What we will do
As a drama coach I normally work through the use of monologues. These can be supplied by you (you may have speeches for drama school audition) or I can supply them for you.
It's important to remember that drama schools are not looking for a finished or polished performance. They aren't looking for a great actor either. What they are looking for is talent. In short, it's not what you know but what you have. Some of the best actors in my year of drama school were some of the worst 'performers' when we started.
The work that I do is about demonstrating what you already have (your talent) in the most effective way possible.
Through working intensively on your pieces, we will determine the character's motivation, the subtext, and his/her journey through the piece.
Some drama schools allow you to choose your own speeches, whereas some supply you with a selection to choose from. Should you have the luxury of choice, then I can work with you to find a piece that best suits your own style.
As an acting coach, I use monologues, duologues and exercises to develop your acting skills.
